There comes a time when we embark on a new direction, sometimes it is imposed on us, like with an injury. We search the internet for solutions, we listen to our friends’ experiences and try a range of perceived solutions. Sometimes we are fortunate, and the problem resolves. Sometimes it doesn’t, and that is when you need professional help.
There is so much information available on any given topic. The problem today isn’t the lack of information; it is understanding its relevance to you in this moment of crisis. This is how I can help you.
With 40 years of listening to and helping clients, and several degrees and advanced qualifications in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, research, sleep, and pain management, I see my role as providing you with a tailored solution to help you return to optimal health and wellbeing.
As an active hiker, sportsman, master scuba diver, gym enthusiast, and approaching 60 years young, I can empathise with those of similar interests and age. Still, I also understand the critical importance of raising our collective awareness that strength equals independence. If you want to garden, cast a rod, hike the Annapurna circuit or swing your grandkids around, all these activities require strength. Not enough strength = lower quality of life. Period.
The Main Challenges as we age
There are two main barriers to this. Firstly, the natural loss of muscle mass @ a rate of 1% per year after 45 years of age. The other is a reduction in the efficiency with which older people convert protein intake into muscle. Both of these natural changes affect our ability to build muscle mass, and as muscle mass decreases, we lose strength at around 2-3% per year.
So if you want to raise your quality of life and you realise that pain, poor sleep or a lack of strength is limiting you, please reach out and let’s work together. My goal is to assist one person at a time to realise their true life potential.
P.S. Please realise that change doesn’t occur in a vacuum. If you looked in the mirror and didn’t like what you saw. Fine. Your reflection represents the sum of your decisions over the PAST 1, 2, or 5 years. If you want to look in the mirror and see a different reflection in 12 months, you need to be open to making changes now and sticking with them. If so, then I can help.
