ExploreFit is the culmination of nearly 40 years of clinical practice, 10 years of research, and thousands of conversations with people as they age. Now riding my own wave towards 60, it all has a bit more relevance.
The simple fact is that we were living longer, but this trend has stalled. Medicine has made significant advances in age-related conditions through improvements in acute care and emergency medicine. It is now due to lifestyle changes that chronic disease is preventing not only further increases in lifespan but also eroding the quality of life older adults are experiencing. With less than 4% of people following recommended exercise guidelines, there is considerable room for improvement.
To enjoy an independent adult life, we need to have the strength to sit, stand, walk, cast a rod, throw a ball, garden and climb the hill to enjoy that sunset in full splendour.
